A covenant or partnership of life between a man and woman, which is ordered to well-being of the spouses and to the procreation and upbringing of children. When validly contracted between two baptized people, marriage is a sacrement. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, p. 887)
Requirements for Marriage:
By diocesan regulation, arrangements for weddings must be made at least six (6) months in advance of the date of the marriage. This amount of time is required to reserve the Church, plan the ceremony and attend an approved Engaged program. Diocesan police, regarding those under their 20th birthday by the date of the marriage, requires interviews with the parish priest or deacon and a professional counselor, and approval by the bishop's office before a wedding date can be reserved.
